After over 40 years of practice as a physical therapist, I have come to realize that healing takes place on so many levels. Patients get better not only from the correct exercises and treatment, but also from the positive caring energy created in the process. The energy between therapist and patient is powerful and can be very healing in and of itself.  

Every patient I have treated was a whole person - not a shoulder, not a back, not a disease. 

Reiki is an energy healing technique that treats the whole person and has been used in conjunction with traditional medicine and therapies for years.  

I stumbled upon Reiki when I was having difficulty driving at night on highways. Frozen in fear and anxiety, I began listening to podcasts. Before long, my fears were conquered and my journey towards learning Reiki was underway. 

From what I have come to understand, Reiki finds YOU when you are in need. You just need to be open to seeing it. 

My study began in the Fall of 2019 becoming attuned as a Traditional Reiki Level 1 Practitioner, followed by Level 2, Level 3 and finally as a Reiki Master Teacher in 2020. Wanting to delve in  even deeper, I became certified as a  Angel Reiki Master Teacher in order to learn how to bring through messages from angels, guides and loved ones during my Reiki sessions in order to foster more healing. 

I am a  volunteer Reiki practitioner at Mary’s Place by the Sea.

I would like to change the focus of healthcare to healing the whole person as compared to just lessening symptoms, to empower people to take responsibility to heal themselves. I have always told my patients that the body is the best healer of itself.  As a physical therapist, it is my job to facilitate that process by giving the body what it needs - range of motion, flexibility, strength, inflammation reduction, pain relief, increased blood flow, posture and body mechanics, etc.  Reiki Energy Healing complements that process by increasing the body’s life force energy to heal itself and by clearing any blockages that prevent optimal energy flow. Combining Reiki and Physical Therapy can optimize healing. My Reiki for the Physical Therapist CEU courses have been approved by NJ and PA State Boards of PT.
